Learn more about your Wellcare Spendables benefit and start using your card to shop for things that will help keep you healthy.
What is the Wellcare Spendables card?
Your Wellcare Spendables card is a preloaded card that gives you the flexibility to pay for eligible health items and services you need to stay healthy.
Your card comes with a dollar amount that reloads every 3 months and can be used when shopping online and in-store.

You need to activate your Wellcare Spendables card before you use it for the first time.
You have 3 options to activate your card:
- Go to your secure member portal and click Wellcare Spendables. You will be directed to the Healthy Benefits+ page where you can create an account or log in.
- Call 1-855-256-4620 (TTY 711) to activate your card over the phone, 24/7.
- Download the Healthy Benefits+ app and create an account to activate your card.
What are my Wellcare Spendables benefits?
Over-the-Counter (OTC) products
Buy the OTC products you need to stay healthy. Choose from thousands of products including first aid, pain relievers, cold and flu medicines and more.
Your card gives you dollars to purchase covered OTC items like:
- Allergy and sinus, like nasal spray.
- Cold and flu, such as cough drops.
- Dental and oral health, such as toothpaste.
- Diabetes care, such as glucose test strips.
- Digestive health, like heartburn relief.
- Eye and ear care, such as eye drops.
- And more!
To see what over-the-counter products you can purchase with your Wellcare Spendables card, log in to your secure member portal and click Wellcare Spendables.
When shopping in-store, scan the barcode on products you want to buy using the Healthy Benefits+ app to see if the item is covered. You can download the app from your phone or tablet’s app store.
You can use your Wellcare Spendables card at participating retailers near you and nationwide. There are many options and locations nationwide to choose from.

- Walgreens
- Kroger
- Albertsons Companies
- Dollar General
- Ahold
- Delhaize
- Publix
- And many more
- Log in to your secure member portal and click “Wellcare Spendables”.
- Click “Shop Online” at the top to browse OTC items and add the items you want to your cart.
- When you are ready to checkout, click “Cart” to see your Order Total and Benefit Balance. Note: If your order total is more than your available Spendables balance, you will need to pay for any remaining total due using a personal credit or debit card.
- Click “Place Order”.
- Wait for your OTC products to be delivered and enjoy!
Tips for using your Wellcare Spendables Card:
- Your Wellcare Spendables card can only be used to purchase eligible OTC items
- If your order total is more than your available Spendable OTC balance, you will need to pay for any remaining total due, using cash, check, or a personal credit or debit card.
- For example: if your total order is $50, and your available Wellcare Spendables balance is $30, your remaining total would be $20. You would need to pay the remaining $20 with cash, check, or a personal credit or debit card.
Healthy Food
Shop for healthy groceries like fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs and milk, frozen meals, meat and seafood, healthy grains and more.
Your card can help you buy your most-used healthy foods like:
- Fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables
- Meat, fish, and seafood
- Frozen meals
- Baking Items, Condiments and Soups
- Grains, Beans, Bread, and Cereals
- Nuts and Seeds
- And more!
There are 2 ways to know what products you can buy with your Wellcare Spendables dollars.
- When shopping in-store, you can use the Healthy Benefits+ app to scan barcodes of products you want to buy. Once you scan a product, the app will say if it’s covered or not. You can download the app from your phone or tablet’s app store.
- Or you can go to your secure member portal to browse and shop for eligible Healthy Food products. As a reminder, only shelf stable items are available when shopping for Healthy Food online.
If you live far from the store, have trouble getting a ride, or just want to save time, you can buy non-perishable Healthy Food online through your secure member portal. You can place an order for pantry staples like:
- Baking Items, Condiments and Soups
- Canned Fruits and Vegetables
- Beans, Nuts, Grains and Cereals
To place an order for shelf stable items:
- Log in to your secure member portal and click “Wellcare Spendables”.
- Click “Shop Online” at the top to browse healthy food items and add the items you want to your cart.
- When you are ready to checkout, click “Cart” to see your Order Total and Benefit Balance. Note: If your order total is more than your available Spendables balance, you will need to pay for any remaining total due using a personal credit or debit card.
- Click “Place Order”.
You can order store-to-door delivery with Uber Eats!
Here’s how:
- Sign into the Uber Eats app and select a retailer near you to purchase eligible OTC and Healthy Food items.
- Search for eligible products and add your favorites to your cart.
- Complete your order, including picking the delivery time and date. You can watch for delivery updates on your mobile device.
- You will receive a confirmation email that outlines what items were covered by your Wellcare Spendables card.
The Wellcare Spendables card and benefits does not cover driver tips.
Gas pay at the pump
Fuel up at the gas pump at select gas stations.
Some participating gas stations you can use your card include:
- Circle K
- Marathon
- Walmart and Sam’s Club
- Speedway
- Shell
- BP
- And many more
Pay-at-the-pump may not be available at smaller or locally owned gas stations.
Your Wellcare Spendables card will not work at the gas station cash register for gas or any other items. If you go inside the gas station to pay for your gas, your card transaction will be declined. You can only use your card to pay at the pump. The card can only be used up to the available allowance amount.
Utilities Assistance
Use your card to help pay for utilities like:
- Electric, gas, trash, and water utilities
- Landline and cell phone services
- Internet or cable TV service (excludes streaming services)
- Certain petroleum expenses, such as home heating oil
Your Wellcare Spendables card can only be used for monthly payments. It can’t be used for automated or recurring payments. You can pay your utilities through your secure member portal, on the Healthy Benefits+ website or mobile app. You can also pay directly on the utilities company’s website.
There is a Utilities bill pay processing fee of $1.50. The fee is covered by the benefit card.
Rent Assistance
Use your benefit to help with the cost of rent mor mortgage payments for your home.
Payments are accepted for expenses such as:
- Apartment rent
- Housing rent
- Property rental agency
- Your home lender
You can either make a payment by logging into your secure member portal or you can pay your rent or mortgage provider directly on their website.
For both Rent and Utilities Assistance, you also have the option to pay covered bills in-store by visiting your local Walmart. Bills can be paid at Walmart through the Money Center or Customer Service desk.
Here’s how you can pay at your local Walmart store:
- Step 1: Bring a copy of the bill needing payment.
- Step 2: At your local Walmart Money Center or Customer Service desk, show your bill to the service representative.
- Step 3: Provide your Wellcare Spendables benefit card as payment. You can swipe your card or ask the service representative to scan the barcode on the back of the card.
- Step 4: Pay any remaining balance with another form of payment method.
Note: If your Wellcare Spendables benefit dollars do not cover the full bill, you can pay any remaining balance directly to your service company.
*NEW* Home Improvement and Safety Items
Help pay for eligible home improvement and safety items such as:
- Grab bars or doorknobs and non-slip floor coverings – Handrails, doorknob grips.
- Safety chairs and bathroom modification aids - commode chairs, bedside commodes, safety frames and risers, shower chairs, grab rails, easy-use faucets, and transfer benches.
- Portable air conditioning and air quality products - portable air conditioning units, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, high efficiency particulate air filters, air quality monitors.
- Pest and insect control supplies - traps, pest control sprays, bait trays.
- And more.
To see your available balance on your Wellcare Spendables card, log in to your secure member portal and select Wellcare Spendables. You can also log into the HealthyBenefits+ app. How much is on your card and when it loads will vary by plan.
You can use your Wellcare Spendables card at participating retailers near you and nationwide.

Yes! You can use your Wellcare Spendables card in-store. Shopping in-store gives you a larger selection of products available.
Find covered items by logging in to your member portal and click Wellcare Spendables.
At checkout, if your total is more than the available balance on your Wellcare Spendables card, you will need to pay the remaining amount using cash, check, or a personal credit or debit card.
- For example: Let’s say your total order is $50 and you have $30 available on your Wellcare Spendables card. You can use the $30 available on your Wellcare Spendables card to buy eligible products. Your remaining total is now $20. You would need to pay the remaining $20 with cash, check, or a personal credit or debit card.
Yes! You can use your Wellcare Spendables card to buy eligible items when shopping online. Not all products are covered by your Wellcare Spendables card. To see if an item you want to buy is covered by your benefit, log in to your member portal and click Wellcare Spendables.
At checkout, if your total is more than the available balance on your Wellcare Spendables card, you will need to pay the remaining amount using cash, check, or a personal credit or debit card.
Wellcare Spendables only covers eligible products. If some of the products you are buying are covered by Wellcare Spendables, and some are not, you do not need to separate the items at checkout. Start by using your Wellcare Spendables dollars to pay for eligible products. You will need to pay for products not covered by Wellcare Spendables, or for any remaining total due, using cash, check, or a personal credit or debit card.
Your Wellcare Spendables card cannot be used at an ATM or to get cash back at the register. The Wellcare Spendables card can only be used by you for your health needs and cannot be sold or transferred to someone else.
If your card isn’t working, there are several things you can do:
- Make sure your card has been activated before using it.
- Check that the item you are trying to purchase is an approved item for OTC, Healthy Food, etc.
If you are still having problems with your card, please contact Member Services at 1-855-744-8550 (TTY 711). We are here from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 7 days a week between October 1 and March 31 and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday between April 1 and September 30.
If you think your card is lost, stolen, or don’t recognize transactions on your Wellcare Spendables card, please call 1-855-744-8550 (TTY 711). We are here from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. 7 days a week between October 1 and March 31 and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday between April 1 and September 30.
